With so many talented artists and live events, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, so here are some tips to help you stay prepared and avoid any hiccups.
• Live Tattooing: Watch fellow artists in action, showcasing different techniques and styles. It’s a great way to pick up new ideas or even show off your own.

• Artist Booths & Galleries: You’ll have your own space to showcase your work, connect with potential clients, and book appointments. It’s all about presenting your best!

• Contests & Awards: There will be competitions where you can submit your work across various categories, judged by some of the top names in the business.

• Merch & Vendor Stalls: Pick up inks, machines, aftercare products, and more. You’ll also get to sell your own merchandise if you’ve got any!

• Networking Opportunities: The convention is the perfect place to connect with other artists and enthusiasts, share experiences, and build relationships.
• Bring the Essentials: Your general kit (machines, inks, etc.), business cards, a good lamp, a backdrop, and pictures of your designs are must-haves. If you’ve got merch, bring that along too—it’s a great chance to sell!
• Travel Light, But Smart: If you’re flying, don’t worry about furniture—it’s usually available to rent. However, packing a sturdy Pelican case will keep your gear safe. Also, grab a shoe organizer to hang from your booth for all your green soap, towels, etc. It’s super handy and keeps your table clutter-free!
• Power Up: Bring a long phone charger, a power bar, and more business cards than you think you’ll need. You’ll thank yourself later.
• Comfort is Key: If space allows, a stencil machine and a stool can make your life easier, as convention seating isn’t always ideal.
• Sleep Arrangements: Book your accommodation well in advance and make sure everything is sorted before you arrive.
• Overpacking or Underpacking: Many artists bring too much equipment or not enough. It’s essential to balance between bringing everything you might need and keeping your station tidy. A portable setup that includes basic essentials like extra business cards, cleaning supplies, and charging equipment can save time and space.

• Lack of Preparation: Failing to prepare can lead to issues such as not booking clients in advance, not promoting your booth, or not having the right supplies on hand. Pre-booking appointments and ensuring you’ve got the proper setup is critical.

• Forgetting to Network: Conventions offer a unique opportunity to network, but it’s easy to get wrapped up in your work. It’s important to take breaks, interact with other artists, and make connections.

• Neglecting Aftercare Advice: Artists sometimes forget to give proper aftercare advice at conventions, which can leave clients confused. Providing clear aftercare instructions helps maintain the quality of your work.

• Ignoring Convention Etiquette: From not being respectful of other artists’ space to bringing too many guests to your booth, failing to follow basic etiquette can leave a bad impression.
